It now allows you to type in part of company name and search list for you, and the option to change the web service url via the user settings screen. Share Prices 4 Desktop (64-bit) - is a 64-bit .net v2 windows client for the Share Prices XML Web service, which can be downloaded from the free downloads section, and is labelled 'Share Prices 4 Desktop(64bit)'. With the latest version you can change the grid colours via the new user settings screen. Also, you can order data by an individual grid column, or search the index data for a specific company. New version available in 32bit/64bit with the RSSNews control, and improved data retreival from the web service (less connections to server.) Plus can export all company share prices, for all indices. Both the 64bit/32bit now include 2 data export options (all data/grid data), autocomplete for the company search, and a new offline/online mode.

You can order data by an individual grid column. Also, you can filter an index by companys beginning with a user search criteria. - Share Prices 4 Desktop (JAVA) - requires jre 1.6.0_05 installed on a windows pc/linux machine/unix machine/macintosh machine, plus internet access to connect to the web service. The download is in the free downloads section and its labelled 'Share Prices 4 Desktop(JAVA)'. New version allows column ordering, basic data export to xml (no schema), and the ability to search the market data for a single company. Now with alternating row colours, and user option to change the colour. On macintosh make sure in java preferences to select a 32 bit version of java for java applications (preferably the latest version.). Otherwise it will not work.

When you are using any front-end for the share price web service, and you get an error saying unable to connect to the share price web service. Then if its a .NET desktop application, you should check the web service url is pointing to http://www.webspecdevit.co.uk/WebServices3/NETSharePriceWS.asmx. However, if its a JAVA desktop application you need to check the web service url is pointing to http://www.webspecdevit.co.uk/JAVASPServ/JAVASharePriceWs.asmx.
